Janiece Johnson is a Laura F. Willes Research Associate at the Neal A. Maxwell Institute for Religious Scholarship at Brigham Young University. General editor of the Mountain Meadows Massacre Complete Legal Papers (Oklahoma University Press, 2017) and co-author of The Witness of Women (Deseret Book, 2016), she is currently working on books on the story of the Mountain Meadows Massacre and the early reception of the Book of Mormon.
Joseph M. Spencer is a philosopher and assistant professor of ancient scripture at Brigham Young University. He's the author of four books and over fifty articles in the fields of philosophy and scripture. He's the editor of the Journal of Book of Mormon Studies, as well as a series editor for two book series: The Book of Mormon: Brief Theological Introductions (Neal A. Maxwell Institute) and Introductions to Mormon Thought (University of Illinois Press). He serves as a vice president of the Book of Mormon Studies Association and the associate director for the Latter-day Saint Theology Seminar. He and his wife, Karen, live with their five children in Provo, Utah.
